Description

Piano accompaniment track available on Jennie’s YouTube channel.

With its twinkling piano accompaniment and melodic solo line, this arrangement allows newer string players to perform elevated holiday music within their abilities.  More experienced players can use optional 8vas, expanding the range and adding drama.  Optional duo parts are included for violin, viola, or cello, so that family, friends, and colleagues can flexibly come together for performances.

The flex strings edition and easy vocal solo edition are in the same key (G major), and they can be layered together. If being sung by a group, the solo string part doubles the voice, and the duet part provides depth. If being sung by a soloist, I recommend using an instrument on just the duet part.

The lyrics may also be replaced with the text to “Stars Were Gleaming.” Since this arrangement has 3 verses and “Stars” traditionally has 2, I recommend using an instrumental soloist to play melody on either the first or second verse. The flex strings edition may be useful for that, as well.
